FAQ

Straight answers

The questions we hear most, grouped by what you're deciding. Anything else, ask us — we reply the same day.

Dates & booking

How do we check if our date is free?

Send us the date through the enquiry form or call (403) 483-4240. We reply to every enquiry the same day — including the ones where the honest answer is that the date has gone.

How far ahead should we book?

It depends on the date. Summer Saturdays and long weekends go first, so enquire as soon as your family has agreed a season; other months, Fridays and Sundays usually leave more room. Send every date you would consider and we will tell you which are open.

Can we see the hall before we book?

Yes. Tours take about thirty minutes, with the room lit as it would be on an event night. Book a tour and bring the people whose opinion counts.

Do you have fixed packages?

No. We build the menu and the room with you at a consultation, around your guest list and the requirements that matter, and your quote follows from that.

What happens at the consultation?

We go through your date, guest count, menu, decor and room layout together, and you taste the food. Dietary needs are confirmed in writing before the day.

How do deposits and payments work?

Deposit amounts and the payment schedule depend on the date and the event, so we set them out at the consultation and in your contract rather than quote a figure here.

The hall

How many guests can the hall hold?

Up to 500 guests in one hall. Send us your expected count and we will show you how the room looks at that size.

How is the room laid out?

The buffet runs along one wall, with two seating areas, a raised stage with the dance floor directly in front, and a bar area. The lobby and entrance, washrooms and two emergency exits complete the plan — see the hall layout.

What seating layouts can you set?

Round tables, long tables, cabaret, theatre or lounge seating, or a mix. How many fit in each depends on the layout and what else is in the room, so we plan it around your guest count — our guest count and seating guide explains the trade-offs.

What sound and AV does the hall have?

A raised stage, in-house sound, wireless microphones, a podium and a screen. Tell us what you plan to present or play and we will go through it at the consultation.

Is the hall heated and air-conditioned?

Yes. Heating and air conditioning are held steady from first arrival to the last dance, in January and in July alike.

Is there a bar?

There is a bar area in the room. How alcohol is served and licensed depends on your event, so we confirm the details at the consultation and set them out in your contract.

Food & dietary needs

Is the food cooked on site?

Yes. Indian (North Indian and Punjabi), Indo-Canadian, Pakistani, Lebanese and Western cuisine all come from our own kitchen — see cuisine for each.

Is halal available?

Yes, on request. Tell us when you enquire and we will confirm it in writing with the rest of your menu.

Can you cook fully vegetarian, Jain or satvik menus?

Fully vegetarian menus are available across every cuisine, and Jain and satvik preparation on request.

How do you handle allergies and other dietary needs?

We prepare gluten-free, vegan and allergy-aware dishes, and every dietary requirement is confirmed in writing before the day. Tell us about serious allergies as early as you can.

How is the food served?

Buffet with multiple lines, plated dinners, live counters (chaat, dosa, grill or wok), family-style platters or themed stations — or a mix. Milder kids' and senior plates can be served separately, and late-night food is arranged in advance.

Can we taste the menu before we decide?

Yes. Tasting is part of your consultation, so dishes and spice levels can be adjusted before anything is final.

Decor & lighting

Do you arrange the decor?

Yes, decor is arranged in-house — stage design, entrance and aisle, table and chair styling, and lighting. See in-house decor for what that covers.

Can the lighting match our colours?

Yes. The colour lighting is set to your palette and can change through the night — softer for dinner, brighter once the dance floor opens.

Can we bring our own decorator or other vendors?

It depends on the vendor and the event, so we talk it through at the consultation and confirm what is agreed in your contract.

Can we use candles or diyas?

Open flame depends on the event and what is planned, so we confirm it with you at the consultation rather than promise it here. Battery-lit candles and diyas are a reliable alternative for decor.

How do we choose a decor theme?

Start with a palette and the feel of the event, and we design the stage, tables and lighting around it at the consultation. Our decor themes and palettes guide is a useful first read.

Events we host

What kinds of events do you host?

Weddings and the full wedding week, engagements, birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, cultural and religious celebrations, corporate galas, awards nights, holiday parties and fundraisers. See all events.

Can we hold more than one event of the wedding week here?

Yes — the Roka, Mehndi, Sangeet, Jaggo and reception can each be held in the hall. Send all your dates together so we can tell you which nights are open; the wedding week timeline helps with the order.

Our Anand Karaj is at the gurdwara — can the reception be here?

Yes. Many families hold the Anand Karaj at the gurdwara and the reception here in the evening, and we plan the arrivals around your ceremony timings.

Can we hold a havan or another religious ceremony?

We host cultural and religious celebrations. Anything involving fire, such as a havan, depends on the ceremony and is confirmed with you at the consultation, never assumed.

Do you host corporate events?

Yes — corporate galas, awards nights and conferences, holiday parties and fundraiser dinners, with stage, AV and catering booked together on one contract. Our corporate gala checklist covers the planning.

How late can our event run?

Finish times depend on the date and the event, so we agree yours at the consultation and write it into your contract.
