Accessibility
We want every guest to arrive easily and enjoy the evening, and everyone to be able to use this website. Here is what the hall offers, what to ask us about, and how the site is built.
This page covers two things — getting to and around the hall, and using this website. If you need something we do not mention here, please ask. We would rather tell you plainly what we can and cannot do than have you find out on the day.
At the hall
Arriving
- Free on-site parking at the door
- Step-free access from the entrance through to the lobby
- A climate-controlled hall, so the room stays comfortable through the evening
Ask us before you book
Every guest’s needs are different. For anything not listed above, we would rather confirm the specifics with you than make general claims. Talk to us before you book about:
- Washrooms — what is available and how to reach them
- Seating for guests who use wheelchairs or mobility aids, and the routes between tables
- A quiet space for a guest who needs a break from the noise and the crowd
- Hearing needs — the hall has in-house sound and wireless microphones, and we can talk through what will help guests follow speeches and ceremonies
- Anything else — service animals, lighting, drop-off at the door — just ask
The surest way to check is to see it for yourself. Book a tour and tell us what you would like to look at, or see how the room is arranged on the hall layout page.
Planning around your guests
When you tell us about a guest’s needs, we arrange the seating around them — a table close to the entrance, clear space at the table for a wheelchair, a seat with a good view of the stage, or a place away from the speakers. Add notes to your guest list or seating plan, or tell us when we go through the layout together.
Food
Our kitchen offers kids and senior plates — milder, softer options plated separately — and allergy-aware cooking, including gluten-free and vegan dishes. Tell us about allergies and dietary needs when you confirm your menu, and we will make sure the kitchen and serving staff know. If an allergy is severe, talk to us directly so we can explain how the kitchen will handle it.
This website
Our standard
We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. The site is designed to:
- Use semantic HTML — proper headings, landmarks and lists — so it works well with screen readers
- Work fully with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline showing where you are
- Offer a skip link, so keyboard and screen-reader users can jump straight to the main content
- Provide text alternatives for meaningful images
- Respect your device’s reduced-motion setting by turning off non-essential animation
- Use colour contrast that meets WCAG AA
- Stay readable and usable when zoomed to 200%
Known limitations
- Some photographs are placeholders that we are replacing with photos of the hall, and we will update their descriptions as we go
- Content from other services that we link to or embed, such as maps, is outside our control and may not meet the same standard. Our address and contact details are also available as text on the contact page
Other formats
If any part of the site is hard to use, we are happy to give you the information another way. For example, we can read the menu or describe the hall layout to you over the phone, or send it by email as plain text. Just ask.
Report a problem
If something on this website does not work for you — a page you cannot reach with a keyboard, an image without a description, text that is hard to read — please tell us. It helps to know the page, what you were trying to do and the device, browser or assistive technology you were using, but send whatever you can.
