Diwali, Eid, Vaisakhi, Navratri and more
Cultural and religious celebrations
Community and family celebrations through the year — a Diwali dinner, an Eid gathering, Vaisakhi or a Navratri garba night — with food prepared the way the occasion asks.
Cultural & religious celebrations at Moonlight
Calgary's festivals are often bigger than any one home can hold. A temple committee's Diwali dinner, an Eid gathering, a Vaisakhi celebration or a Navratri garba night each need a room for several hundred people, food prepared correctly for the occasion and a stage for the speeches and performances.
We take the religious details seriously. Menus can be fully vegetarian, Jain, satvik or halal, with every requirement confirmed in writing, and for anything that involves a flame — a puja with diyas, a havan, a Lohri fire — ask us first and we will tell you what the hall allows.
Family occasions belong here too: a welcome dinner for parents back from Hajj, or a Diwali for a few hundred relatives. If the occasion matters to your community, ask us and we will tell you honestly how the hall can host it.

How it comes together
From the first conversation to the last guest out — one team, start to finish.
Share the occasion
Tell us the festival, the date and what the evening needs — prayers, speeches, performances or dancing.
Plan the food
Agree the menu and its religious requirements at a consultation, and we confirm them in writing.
Decor and lighting
Choose the colours and stage design for the occasion, and we arrange the decor and lighting in-house.
The celebration
Guests arrive from free on-site parking for the prayers, speeches or performances on stage, then dinner and, if it suits the night, the floor.
The room
Community celebrations often have a less predictable guest count than a wedding, so we plan the layout with some room to adjust and confirm the final number with you before the day. Theatre-style rows suit an evening of speeches, round tables suit a dinner, and for garba and raas the centre of the room is cleared and seating moves to the edges. The hall holds up to 500 guests, and we will show you how each layout works at your count.

At a religious occasion the food has to be right. We prepare fully vegetarian menus across every cuisine, Jain and satvik preparation on request and halal on request, with each requirement confirmed in writing before the day. For an iftar, the service is planned around the moment the fast opens, with dinner to follow.
